Thumbs down Stolen Armor Pieces in Challenge Missions

The drop rates on these things really needs to be reworked.

With the release of GW:EN right around the corner, people are going to be spread even thinner across the world. Fewer and fewer players are going to be in specific towns and outposts. We've seen this already with locations in both Tyria and Cantha.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand.

Stolen Armor drop rates are horribly low. From the research done, it seems that if you play by yourself with a full Hero/Henchman team, you have practically 0% chance of getting any pieces. Likewise, the ability to get into a good PUG with a game plan is also very low (this is the case for most things however).

I just don't see this as fair or balanced or whatever you wish to call it. Coordinated groups, listed high on the scoreboard, can get dozens of these pieces, yet one person working with AI can't even get one or two after hours of retries. More people probably want different looks for their Heroes just as they do for their own characters, but with the current situation coupled with pathetic drop rates, they might as well not even bother.

If a person wants to do these challenges on his own, with AI assistance, he should have an equal, possibly even elevated, chance to get them. Even a 25% increase in the chance to get these armor pieces would be better than nothing. Bad enough we have to have everything else divvied up among undeserving AI.


Another thing to add about this: Concerning the debacle about Armbraces of Truth; why are high-end items like that allowed to flow like rain, tarnishing farther the already severely-flawed economy, but these armor pieces, which provide no bonus or benefit, which only changes the look and not the abilities of your Heroes, locked down under such a restrictive manner? Decreasing chances to get another after a certain number and punishment for using AI instead of real players. Armor remnants are much harder to acquire than the equivalent armor for your own characters!

If these types of restrictions are placed on just the alteration of your Heroes appearance, then we have absolutely no hope in ever seeing any kind of hair changing NPC in GW, despite all the requests and outcry for one. I'm sure you'd have to go through some new, asinine "challenge" mission to get hair pieces or hair color kits. And if you want to change your hair again? Well don't attempt to get more of them on the same character, because your chances will ebb away every time you try.

The only pieces I got there were in a double weekend, and spread in 3 characters, because the first one I was playing with stopped getting more pieces after the 3rd one. Otherwise I could never get all armors in one character.

In Remains of Sahlahja I can get 4..6 pieces in 20 minutes.

The Shadow nexus is worse. There's NEVER anyone there. Not in any district.
Yet if you go with heroes, you geet nothing at all almost never.

That should be fixed. Why do add something if most of the people can't have access to it.

Maybe they should jack up my Lucky title, then.

Not that I play it very much, but I haven't failed to get one yet. First time I played, with a full PUG, I got 2.

I got Dunkoro's and Koss' elite armour pieces drop for me. And it drops REGULARLY for me. I'm pretty much guaranteed one by the second stage. And I did it enough to get around 12 pieces of armour in an hour. I've not tried the other challenge missions to see if they're the same.

It was a long time ago, but I never really had much trouble with hero armours. The sunspear fragments were easy to get, even easier after you realise that you jst have to spike down guildlords.

The shadow nexus was easy too, spike down portal mages.

The remains of sahlahja were tough though. Took me ages to figure out how to play properly and hunt down lost spirits. Heard they made it easier in that the maddened spirits can drop now too?

Primeval fragments depends on how much time you're willing to put into doa. If you're farming gems and such, and the generals, you can get them okay.

And most of my armour pieces came from H/H so its not like it needs a full 8 man team.

I like this thread, so I am going to contribute me angry two cents and a neutral suggestion to get their butt in gear about how to fix it.

Spot on about henchies or heroes. In months of trying culminating in today, after a WHOLE afternoon trying the various challenge missions, I got NOTHING. If I hope to get anyone into my HoM, then I need to buy the armor (dear lord why?) or just forget about it.

ANet, here's the plan. Every kill contributes towards a thing I am calling Sunspear/Forgotten Faction. Just like in Factions, you can then turn over faction for goodies (like armor pieces). Simple plan since it already exists in Factions.

Please don't waste my time or tie something into the HoM that requires an item some people get every blasted time when others CANNOT get them. Fix this.

I hope they do. Jade Quarry is an example of piss poor planning with nothing to show for the complaints.

Please dear lord, do something!

So, some people get armors, and some won't them them at all?

It looks like some people people is using other's pieces limit.
So some people wt their piece limit wastesna dcan't get more than 2 or 3, and others get 12 in a short time.

While I don't necessarily agree with making them more common overall... I do have two points to make:
#1. They should be more common with heroes in the party, since they are armour soley FOR heroes, and thus the greatest benefit (i.e. most pieces) would go to those most likely to appreciate it (those who use heroes more).
#2. The limit cap per character should be removed. In other words... they should be farmable. Not every one of my characters can do every one of the challenge missions... and I rather resent that. I suspect ONLY my Ritualist (once she gets far enough) will be able to do the Remains at all (Rt/P with VwK and CTT). I don't think it is fair that I should only be able to kit out the heroes of one or two characters because nobody else is capable of doing the missions effectively.
